Dr. Kurre Luber joined Oxford Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in 2008. In addition to his practice in Oxford, he currently serves as Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist for The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) athletic program. Prior to his professional return to Oxford, Dr. Luber was an honors graduate of the University of Mississippi and obtained his medical degree from the University of Missouri Medical School. Dr. Luber’s professional training in orthopedic surgery includes his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Luber completed an AO International Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship in York, England. Rounding out his hands-on training, residency was followed by an accredited fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine and Mississippi Sports Medicine and
Orthopedic Center. During his training he worked under world renowned surgeons and assisted in the management of both professional and collegiate athletes.
As Orthopedic Surgeon for Ole Miss and Delta State Universities, Dr. Luber is dedicated to both prevention and treatment of sports-related injuries. While caring for active people of all ages, Dr. Luber works with Ole Miss’s Health and Sports Performance program and stays up to date on the most current treatments for sports and activity related injuries.
Dr. Luber is double board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons in both, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. His experience includes less invasive total and partial shoulder and knee replacements. He also has advanced experience with sports medicine and arthroscopic reconstruction, foot and ankle surgery, hand surgery, pediatric orthopedics, nerve disorders and trauma. Through his International Trauma Fellowship and Level 1 trauma experience, he obtained extensive training in the care of broken bones and traumatic injuries. Dr. Luber remains actively involved in the educational side of sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. His orthopedic colleagues from the state of Mississippi have elected him to serve as Mississippi’s Counsel of Delegates representative for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). He has also represented Mississippi at the National Orthopedic Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. He is also a member of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Mississippi Orthopedic Society where he has served as President. He has also served as an Associate Master Instructor to other orthopedic surgeons from around the globe at the AAOS Orthopedic Learning Center.
Dr. Luber and his wife, Tara live in Oxford were they remain active in the community and school system. They have three children: Kurre, Miles and Charlotte.
