A former collegiate softball player, the Montgomery, Alabama native earned her undergraduate degree from Huntington College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named to the United Small College Athletic Association Academic All-American team and the All-Academic team for the Great South Athletic Conference. Her education continued at the University of Mississippi, completing a master’s degree in Exercise Science. A licensed, certified athletic trainer, Ms. Burns also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Ole Miss and remained on staff as an assistant athletic trainer, specifically serving the football, softball and track and field teams.
Ms. Burns completed her Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where she gained extensive surgical experience in orthopaedic, cardiovascular, gynecological, and general surgeries. She was also the recipient of the Margaret Kirkland award for scholastic achievement.
A member of the American Association of Physician Assistants and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Ms. Burns will be working directly with Dr. Boyd and his team, assisting in clinic, surgery and patient education.
Ms. Burns resides in Oxford with her husband, Brodie.
